About

After reading "Period Power" by Nadya Okamoto, Katie Clark felt called to do something. She reached out to principals in Little Rock to find out if their students were missing school because they couldn't afford period products, a majority said "yes." In 2018 she created the Arkansas Period Poverty Project, a community group seeking to end period poverty and promote menstrual equity through donations, education, and legislation.

What started off as a personal passion project for Clark, has become the leader of the menstrual movement in Arkansas, regularly donating period products to over 60 schools, introducing and passing legislation to reduce the burden of period poverty, and educating countless young people on menstruation.

Services

Donations

We are focused on keeping students in the classroom where they belong. Every month we donate period products to schools across the state so that students don't have to miss class because they don't have access to a pad or tampon.

Education

Many students across Arkansas do not receive adequate education when it comes to periods and menstrual disorders. We are here to help fill that gap. Not only do we help educate young people on periods, we also educate communities across the state on period poverty and its effects.

Legislation

In order to end period poverty, we need to address it from all angles, which is why we are involved in legislative advocacy. We are non-partisan and working with Republicans and Democrats in our state legislature and at the federal level to introduce and pass bills that promote menstrual equity by ending the tampon tax and getting free period products in schools.

Our Team.

We believe all menstruators deserve access to safe and affordable period products.

Our Vision

We envision an Arkansas where menstruators are able to access free period products at school, work, and public places; an Arkansas that does not impose a discriminatory tax on period products; an Arkansas where everyone can feel free and safe to learn and talk about periods.
